Leaders of the Metropolitan Washington Road & Transportation Builders Association (MWRTBA), including President Dave Cantwell of Recycled Aggregates and Vice President Sam Patel of Fort Myer Construction, joined ARTBA members on May 14, 2015 to represent the industry at a White House Event to promote President Obama’s transportation policy and funding priorities.
Featured speakers at “Conditions for Growth: The Economic Benefits of a Robust Federal Transportation Program” included U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, Office of Management & Budget Director Shaun Donovan, and National Economic Council Director Jeff Zients.
Presenters discussed the merits of the administration’s “Grow America” reauthorization proposal, a $478 billion, six-year funding proposal that would include a large surface transportation investment increase funded by a potential tax reform package.
MWRTBA’s Cantwell said “Long-term federal transportation investment continues to be a critical issue for those of us in the DC area and nationally. Sam and I saw this as another opportunity to help voice the industry’s need for action by our elected officials as soon as possible.”
