Update to the COVID-19 Health Policy

FROM: Christopher M. Kerns, Vice President & Senior General Counsel
DATE: July 30, 2021

SUBJECT: Update to the COVID-19 Health Policy

Dear colleagues,

As a result of the Delta Variant, the District of Columbia has ordered that as of Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 5:00 AM everyone over the age of two years must wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status.

While FMCC does not currently mandate that all employees obtain COVID-19 vaccinations, we nevertheless continue to highly encourage employees to receive the vaccine.

COVID-19 vaccines have been proven:

  • To be highly effective in preventing individuals from catching COVID-19 and/or the Delta variant;

  • To prevent individuals from contracting severe illness, hospitalization, and death;

  • To protect those with whom you come in contact, i.e. family, friends, fellow employees.

Recently, more than 99% of people in hospitals with severe COVID-19 cases were unvaccinated. If you have not yet received your vaccine, now is the time to do so.

Regarding your own vaccination: we ask employees to abide by an honor system regarding mask-wearing inside your own office or divided space:

  • If you have been vaccinated, you do not have to wear a mask while alone and inside your own office or divided space; other vaccinated persons can voluntarily remove their mask inside your office or divided space.

  • If you have not been vaccinated, you must wear a mask even inside your own office or divided space.

  • If significant concerns arise regarding the vaccination status of an individual, then HR may be contacted to verify that employee’s vaccination status. HR may seek approval from Company leadership to verify employees’ vaccination status.

All visitors to FMCC properties or jobsites are required to wear a mask regardless of their vaccination status.

Thank you for your hard work to keep us all safe.
