The US Institute of Peace (USIP) Potomac Annex renovations project will be comprised of renovations to Potomac Annex Buildings 6&7. Building 6 will be renovated to provide additional classroom and meeting space for the USIP Academy for International Conflict Management and Peacebuilding. Building 7 will provide collaboration space and workspace for the PeaceTech Lab.
Modifications to both buildings will include interior reorganization modernization of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, and exterior additions to accommodate egress requirements. In addition, an elevated pedestrian walkway will be constructed between the USIP Headquarters Building and Buildings 6 and 7 to facilitate access and circulation among USIP facilities.
Fort Myer will be responsible for the site infrastructure utilities including water, sewer, and stormwater management. This work entails detailed trenching, shoring, and installing new sewer structures and a filtration system for all stormwater run-off.
The stormwater filtration system designed for this project will reduce 80% of the overall water flow that currently flows through the District’s existing piping system. This filtration system plays a valuable part in the Green Infrastructure programs being implemented throughout DC.
